Delays in Road Construction Pose Threat to Villagers at Ladavali bridge:Raigad Fort Road

The construction of a vital road connecting Mahad to Raigad fort, extending up to Pachad, has been underway for the past two years. The focal point of this construction is the bridge at Ladavali village, a crucial link in the road network that eventually meets the Mumbai-Goa national highways at Mahad Nate Khind.

Delays and Concerns

Akshya Construction has been entrusted with the completion of this road and bridge. However, as the monsoon season looms just a few days away, the completion of the bridges remains uncertain. The looming question is: what will happen if the roads are left incomplete?

 Despite multiple attempts to reach Akshya Construction via phone calls, no response was received."

The consequences could be dire for commuters and villagers who rely on this route to cross the brook where the bridge is being constructed. The region faces a significant threat from the river and potential flooding. In the past, the low-lying bridge posed a risk during flood seasons, submerging the area and making it impassable. With the revised construction, the bridge aims to withstand potential overflow and ensure the safety of the road and the surrounding villages.

Impact on Villagers

Approximately 30 villages depend on this route to reach Mahad, the local tahsil place, essential for accessing hospitals and schools. The completion of this bridge is essential for the smooth functioning of daily life in these villages. Without it, the villagers, especially patients in emergencies, pregnant women, and the elderly, will face severe challenges. 



Failure to finish the bridge before the monsoon season could result in the nearby low-lying road being submerged, affecting the surrounding areas. This could lead to flooding, severely impacting the nearby villagers and commuters due to the heavy rainfall, resulting in significant hardships for the people.

Government and Contractor's Responsibility

The government and the construction company must act swiftly to complete the bridges before the onset of the monsoon season. Ensuring the safety and accessibility of this vital route is not just a task but a responsibility that impacts the lives of many in the region.

The delays in the construction of the Mahad-Raigad road and the Ladavali bridge pose a significant threat to the villagers in the region. The government and Akshay Construction must prioritize the completion of these projects to mitigate the risks associated with the monsoon season and ensure the well-being of the local communities.
