Political Drama Unfolds in Raigad Loksabha Election

The ongoing Lok Sabha election in Raigad has taken an exciting turn with the entry of a new contender, Kumudini Chauhan from the Vanchit Bhaujan Political Party. However, the real battle is expected to be between Sunil Tatkare of the NCP and Anant Geete of the Shiv Sena (UBT).

Tatkare, a former state water resources minister, represents the NCP faction led by Ajit Pawar. Geete, a former Union minister, represents the Shiv Sena (UBT) faction led by Uddhav Thackeray. Both candidates have strong support bases in Raigad.

The late Manik Jagtap, a former MLA from the Congress and now UBT, had a significant support base in Raigad. His daughter, Snehal Jagtap , has joined the UBT faction, which is expected to boost Geete's chances. Tatkare is believed to have had an agenda against Jagtap in the past, which may affect his support among Jagtap's followers.

The political polarization and division in Raigad could make the election outcome unpredictable. The support of Sharad Pawar and Jayant Patil of the Shetkari Kamgar Party for Geete could repeat the "Antuley equation" in his favour.

Tatkare has faced allegations of disproportionate assets and involvement in a water irrigation scam. The Bombay High Court has directed the ACB and ED to investigate these allegations. The absence of any major uproar after Tatkare joined the BJP has raised questions about his escape from scrutiny.

While Geete has not faced any corruption charges, his performance as a Union minister and as a MP has been questioned. Critics argue that he has not initiated any significant projects in Raigad and has been absent during crises such as COVID-19, floods, and landslides.

Kumudini Chauhan of the Vanchit Bhaujan Political Party is a relatively new face in Raigad politics. She may not have the same level of support as Tatkare or Geete, but her candidacy could potentially split the vote and influence the outcome of the election.

The Raigad Lok Sabha election is a close race between Sunil Tatkare and Anant Geete. The late Manik Jagtap's influence, political polarization, and allegations against Tatkare are key factors that could determine the outcome. Kumudini Chauhan's candidacy adds an element of uncertainty to the contest. Ultimately, the voters of Raigad will decide the fate of these candidates and the future representation of their constituency in Delhi.
