Panvel: As the old adage suggests, as the house moves, so do the beams of the house. In Shetkari Kamgar Party, Jayant Patil single handedly decides who would be the next Chief Minister of Maharashtra
In a recent turn of events, the Shetkari Kamgar party (SKP) in Maharashtra finds itself embroiled in controversy as allegations of dictatorship and internal conflict surface. Noted party figure Prof. N.D. Chandrasekhar Patil has come forward to criticize Jayant Patil's leadership, stating that SKP should not be treated as a private domain subject to one individual's whims.
The roots of this discord can be traced back to SKP's historical influence across Maharashtra, particularly among the working class. However, Chandrasekhar Patil and other long-standing party members claim that Jayant Patil's narrow-minded approach has led to a deterioration in the party's standing.
During the recent Lok Sabha elections, SKP loyalists in Raigad's Alibag region, a key component of the Mahavikas Aghadi coalition, raised concerns over Jayant Patil's alleged dictatorial tendencies. This has sparked fears of fragmentation within the party, echoing criticisms leveled against national leaders like Modi.
The absence of Lal Bavata, a prominent figure in Maharashtra's political landscape, has further fueled tensions. Labor leader Shivajirao Jadhav, representing the All India Forward Block, has emerged as a candidate in the Maval Lok Sabha Constituency, garnering support from Chandrasekhar Patil and his allies. Their stance, expressed in a press conference prior to the nomination process, underscores a growing rift within the party.
Chandrasekhar Patil asserts that many SKP stalwarts, former activists, and adherents of the party's principles stand behind him in opposition to Jayant Patil's leadership. By endorsing Shivajirao Jadhav, he aims to rally SKP voters in Maval towards a candidate aligned with the party's ethos.
In challenging Jayant Patil's authoritarian rule, Chandrasekhar Patil alleges that he was unfairly ousted from the party without due process. Vowing to escalate the matter to the Election Commission, he signals a deepening divide within the Shetkari Kamgar party.
Drawing inspiration from iconic leader ND Patil, Chandrasekhar Patil envisions a movement akin to SKP's revolutionary past. With loyal supporters in Raigad and Maharashtra rallying behind his cause, a showdown seems inevitable in the upcoming Maval Lok Sabha elections. The stage is set for a clash of ideologies within the Shetkari Kamgar Party, as Chandrasekhar Patil asserts his commitment to upholding the party's founding principles against the tide of authoritarianism.
